Gotta get me one of those!
« on: February 10, 2015, 08:43:47 AM »
What's on your short list of new, upgrade, or replacement items for your 2015 elk hunting gearlist? I'm looking at a few things:

Tags for WA and ID
Dual bow carrier for my RZR.
MT bike handlebar bow mount
New (Xtra) release
Small/lightweight target for hunting camp(s)
Light (warm weather) bow hunting pants
New bow sight
Better holster for my Taurus .44 (for ID big bear country hunt)
Another spare headlamp (can't have too many headlamps, lol).

What's on your short list for elk gear for this fall?
Darton Archery Maverick II
Traditions Vortek StrikeFire Smoke Pole
Weatherby VG-2 Boomstick

Not specifically elk gear but I am watching for a good deal or sale on a solid outfitter/wall/multi person base camp tent. Been talking about it for years but this year will scoop one up for sure

If you can get it down to long beach this weekend I can bring it home Monday. Sunday is the opener of the clam dig out there so maybe someone from the area is heading down to dig. I will be there from Friday night to Monday, not digging, just drinking and relaxing.

My gear purchases for the season are always based on how much money I get back from tags I don't draw.  If I don't draw anything (besides my otc tags) then I have extra cash for new toys.

I will be adding a few things though.

-New top lip for the Kifaru
-BA Bellyache mummy bag
-New rims and tires for my mountain bike
-upgrade the GPS (probably a rhino)

Yeah and get one that has more symmetry.  The left fronts are about 1/2" longer

Right.  Other than that i could use a new release.  New stings on one bow.  New bugle so i look cooler in the woods.  Maybe some overpriced sitka gear you cant kill elk with out gotta look good in those trophy photos.

I disagree.  You can kill elk without Sitka but you can't take pictures without it

I typically carry all my Sitka gear and change into it after I've tagged the animal and preparing for some stills.

Good call on the bugle though, make sure you get one of those pontoon sized ones.  Just don't practice when there is snow in the mountains or you'll start an avalanche.
