Elk in Ashford.
« on: December 28, 2008, 06:24:15 PM »
Was out to Ashford this afternoon. There are some elk viewing opportunities there now. Lots of snow so they are down in the pastures and in some yards. Couple bulls too.

We used to stay at a cabin in Ashford.  Elk are there and visible year-round.  Great place to see them or take visitors from out of town to show them wild elk.

Yah there are some nice bulls in there once the snow pushes them down outta hancock. I chase the local herd around in there during muzzy season but after opening day they cross the river.

I can't remember not seeing elk when I've been through Ashford.  It seems like they are everywhere over there.

We have cabin in Ashford and go there almost every weekend. Like anywhere else they disappear during season for the most part. They are back now and will be at least into August. If you go out Meredian, start watching for elk once you pass 224th. You will be surprised how many you can spot early morning and late afternoon.
