Finally took a break from building my wife's Valentines Day present and got to the water. These warm temps have been killing me, mainly because I've been either stuck at work all day or building the garden shed. Well today was my day to hit it and I was very pleased with the results!

First EVER February largemouth and biggest ever February largemouth in the same day

Where are good bass fishing places in western washington? Preferably Snohomish county. The only place I've ever had any luck is Lake Ki, but I am not a huge bass fisherman. I'd like to start though. Any info helps. Thanks!

Snohomish County lakes I have personally caught bass in:

Armstrong
Blackmans
Bosworth
Cassidy
Flowing
Gissberg
Goodwin
Howard
Ki
Loma
Martha (AM)
Panther
Roesiger
Serene
Shoecraft
Stevens
Storm

Of these Goodwin and Stevens have the best mix of smallmouth and largemouth. I would check out Washingtonlakes.com and do loads of research. March through November are the best months but as you can see this mild Winter has thrown the rule book out the window!

Lake Cavanaugh is in Skagit county... Yes there is small mouth in it... but dont disgrace it by saying its part of the 3 counties that cause everyone grief.

and while I agree with you as I spend as much of my free time as possible in Skagit County I'm afraid it won't be long before they fall victim to poor voting techniques as well...

Thanks for the correction, just trying to keep this about fishing though.

NUMBERS: Armstrong, Cassidy, Flowing, Howard, Martha (AM), Loma, Panther, Storm, Gissberg, Serene are all places to cut your teeth and have the potential to hook into a decent 3+ with the very occasional 5+ or bigger.

LUNKER POSSIBILITY: Bosworth, Goodwin, Roesiger, Shoecraft, Stevens, these lakes are good on numbers and larger fish of 5lbs+. Stevens and Goodwin are getting a little over run with the smallmouth for my taste but they are the easier to catch bass for sure as they are very aggressive and lots of fun to fight on light tackle.

HIT AND MISS: Blackmans, Ki

Snohomish County has it's decent lakes no question but if you're not afraid to burn a little gas and want to fish some very quality bass lakes head north! Skagit has a couple all time great ones and Whatcom County is phenomenal!! Then once or twice a year make a run East for some very different very fun fishing as Eastern Washington has some truly remarkable lakes for both size and numbers!

I caught largemouth in Novemeber, December, and January but, for the life of me, cannot connect with a February fish this year (have in the past). I lost a couple last Saturday. Just cannot get one to the boat.

Great job getting out there! A lot of these fish have not seen a lure in a few months so getting one to bite can be easier than a guy would think. Nice fish!

From now until May look shallow 10' or less. From now until April look for wood and rocks or even clumpy isolated vegetation. The fish want warmth until the water warms to about 52*+ then they will feed a little more aggressively. Use plastics or jigs for now and when the water gets warmer switch to reaction (moving) baits. There's a lot more to it than that but that's the short sweet version.

I'm fairly experienced in catching bass during the summer because that's what Ive done and I use double tail worms with a Carolina rig so I imagine just sink it to the bottom and finesse jig it?

Thread that on to a 1/4 - 3/8oz jig and you're in business
