I do not hunt coyotes yet but have a grandson that wants to start this year. He's not in pelts, just wants to be out hunting and to get better at it. So after reading the posts here I am curious what do you do with the coyotes you shoot from late February to end of October????

Do you just leave them in the field to rot; take them to a state disposal site or what? What does the state & feds say to do on managed land and what do most private land owners say or do they even care?

i leave those lay where they fall most times(public land) but private land I pack them home to dispose of. They do not rot! The other coyotes will eat them quickly, some times over night they are reduced to bones and fur!

Is there anyone that you could sell the dogs to after hunting them?

About the only one I know that buys coyotes in the round is George Brady in Pateros.

When I used to trap coyotes they would be pretty flat until late in Oct. I would start first of Oct and they would start getting decent in the middle of the month depending on age. Young grow out a little later then old ones.
On the west side they are going bad by the end of the year but stay pretty good on the east side until 1st of Feb.

I’m gonna just throw my 2 cents in here. If you are gonna go through the trouble of hunting, calling and shooting a coyote especially when the pelts are prime(Late October to Mid February) learn how to case skin them and put them up for the fur market. This past January’s sales the average price for the fur harvesters auction for a large prime, well put up coyote was $70! The top price was $145! Yes it can be time consuming, but its not that hard. Take a look at wolftrapper’s photo, those are ALL really well put up coyotes, they may vary in belly color and back color which will effect the “grade” But I’m willing to bet he will get better than average prices for those skins. You do the math! At the very least it’ll pay for gas!  There are a lot of good videos out there that will show you how to skin and “put up” skins. If you have questions on how to put coyotes skins I don’t mind answering any PM’s. Also the 2 main fur auctions sites are Fur Harvesters and NAFA. Give them a call they have always been helpful when I’ve contacted them. Again, this is my 2 cents.

I agree with you coyotehunter, figure if a guy averaged $50 a fur that would pay for a year's worth of ammo or a tank of fuel with a little practice. This year the ones that were salvageable I gave to a friend so that they wouldn't go to waste. If a guy can make money on this sport, why wouldn't a guy want to? Laziness?? Makes a guy wonder. Wolftrapper does a fantastic job on his furs and takes pride in his work and it shows when the checks are cute.
Take'em boys!

the ones I was talking about leaving lay are after prime season. Aka  summer dogs. I do skin every dog that's not terrible. Even a few past prime
