Very Nice batch of box calls on the table.  A couple of them almost look like they were done by Jerry White.

Dad's Custom calls  :dunno:

Wow, what a bunch of spurs. At first I figured you had a guy with little hands in your hunting party  :chuckle: :chuckle:. But man, some of those things are amazing. My biggest is 1 1/8" but no point to it at all. Came off an old fighting bird missing 4 or 5 tail feathers, my second Washington bird from right over where you are headed. Good luck to your group, and thanks for sharing so much, I bet it helps you when you get here .

Those are some great spurs for Merriams.  I know it will never happen, but if I could somehow find a merriam that would go 1.5" I would have a grand slam of 1.5"ers.  A kid can dream

And here are the spurs on the bird i shot a couple hours after i called the bird in for my buddy.   Probably won't break any records :chuckle:  I should probably add that it had an 8 1/2" beard and a full fan.

For a  Merriams, this is decent:

This was a fall bird a few years ago, I shot it the day before thanksgiving, it sure was tasty.  I thought it would be tougher than my boot, but it had 1/4" of fat on it and was as good as any bird I ever ate.  I watched it for 2 weeks waiting for the right moment, and on my day off, it made the mistake of sticking to its pattern.

You guys get some dandy spurs. All the birds around here seem to ware them down like crazy. I have never killed a bird that has points on there spurs. Always rounded off.

Dale, those look like the birds we see in Texas.  The Merriams we kill in Nebraska have shorter spurs than ours but are still sharp.
