Hello all!
My cousin is wanting to plan a trip to the NW for her husband to do alittle fly fishing. Since I'm not into fly fishing, I was wondering is anyone could provide recommendations on where to go/stay. Money isn't an issue, so if it's a resort type place that's fine too. Any help would be appreciated.

So they are looking at May-June. She doesn't really care what kind of fish, as long he can wade out into a stream and catch a few. I'm totally not up to speed on when trout and steelhead seasons open and close.

The majority of streams open June 1st for trout. I would think the Yakima river and Naches river might be good.

I'd hit the Yakima canyon that time of year. If you're coming out west to fish, get the whole experience. Rent a raft from Red's and float and fish. That's a great time of year. It's wadeable too but kind of a big river to wade. Most of the other rivers will be closed for trout till June 1. The Yak is open year round. Send Rhinoron247 a message here and he can get you set up with a real nice place to stay and a guide if they're interested in that. It's always nice to have a guided day to learn the ropes of an unfamiliar fishery.

Id say put the fly rod down and  go after some spring chinook, summer kings or steelhead. depending on when they come out. I know a guide.

If money was really no object, and it had to be fly fishing for trout, I'd give these guys a serious look

might catch a rafter.  I heard today that Deschutes wasn't going to have salmon seasons this spring.

For trout, I vote the Deschutes or the Yakima, in that order of preference.  I'm thinking they are the top two trout flyfishing streams in WA/OR, at least at that time of year.

Go to Bend OR. Ton of fisheries in that area. I fly fish the Yak, Naches quite a bit and would pick the Bend OR area over WA for a PNW fly fishing experience. Plus you don't have to deal with the gangs and meth heads stealing your stuff.
