Lowa Tibet GTX

I recently bought a pair of these boots and boy do they fit good. I am on the fence between these and the Hanwag Alaskan GTX's. Those fit unbelievably good too. I ended up purchasing these due to not finding any locally to try on. Meindl doesn't make the model of boots I currently use (Tieton II) and the Perfekts are not perfect on my foot so I'm on the hunt for a great boot. I've owned Zamberlan's, Meindl's, Vasque and various Cabela's brand full leather boots and these so far along with the Hanwag's are by far the best I've tried but time will tell.

My question for anyone who own's this model is I am concerned with the lace eyelet tearing out over time and am wondering if anyone has had an issue with this or do they hold up well. I tend to lace up pretty snug so I don't want that tearing out of the boot after a year. Normally this eyelet is rivited to the leather on most boots. See 1st photo.

The only other thing I noticed is the first lace tie is rivited a little forward on one boot. I dont' think this is going to cause problems but just curious what anyone thinks. Should I worry about this? Being $330.00 boots, quality control should be very high but I am pretty picky especially when it comes to symetry. The photo is just a stock photo and the red dot on the second picture is where the rivit/lace tie is positioned.

Other than that, I love these boots so far but the Hanwags are awesome too. I do like the way these look over the Hanwags but that is secondary to function/form.

I'm going to purchase a pair of Tibets shortly. I'm not worried about those eyes. My reasoning for buying the boot,  is because of the price if Kenetreks these days. $455 for an uninsulated pair has me pissed. My first pair I bought when they first came out were $275. Over several years, they've constantly climbed to this near ridiculous price. Problem is they are the best boot I've worn by quite a bit. I've worn most brands. My last call to Kenetrek led to a couple smart ass comments, which I didn't expect after purchasing 6 pairs of their boots over the last 10 years.  Lowa's price has remained at a price that I feel fair for a high end boot.

Good to hear. What I really like about these that I did not realize right away are the locking eyelets. For those that don't own these, the fouth set of lace eyelets flip up and then lock your laces when flipped down. So you lace up tight then lock down your laces so when you lace up the rest, the front end doesn't loosen up. Hope I explained that ok. Some boots I have had this issue of not being able to keep the laces tight throughout the lacing process. I can't wait so see how this works in the field and how locked in these boots stay. Updated the photo to show this.

I own a pair and have never had any problems. Best boots I've owned...and I've owned kenetreks

I think they would have pretty good warranty if they failed at those points. I think the laces would wear out before the boots do

I wish I knew. I had to order mine from Amazon because I couldn't find a store that carried these.

I've had my Lowa Rangers for 3 seasons and the eyes are fine. It's the best pair of boots I've ever owned and maybe the last, too. They're exceptional.

I have a pair that my Wife bought me for Christmas. They are a great pair of boots.  They are 10x the boot that the Salomon Quest 4D is.

My Lowa Tibets have lasted 6 years and just now are getting retired for the Lathrop Lowa tech lite hunter (cevedale).  My Lowa Khumbu II that I also used for the last 2 years have held up great.

The locking eyelet is amazing!!!  Snug them up and the laces stay put.  These boots have the same 5mm shank for support but are a lot lighter than my tibets.  Paired up with a custom synergy footbed they fit like a dream.

I was going to try the Tech Lites but Latrhop wasn't going to be able to get 14s until June so I went with the GTX, seems pretty good so far.
 I didn't know the locking eyelets when I bought them, that's an awesome feature!
