New Calls
« on: March 20, 2015, 08:42:57 AM »
Decided to try some new calls this year. Just got my new Phelps calls in the mail. Can't wait to try them out.  :IBCOOL:

I used these calls last year for the first time and called in a great bird for my son during the youth weekend.  They are great!  Plus great customer service!

Mine should be in the mailbox when I get home. Looking forward to putting them to work.

Spent a little time with all of the new calls and I will give my review on them all.

Blue Ghost- very easy to blow (great for a beginner) however seems to be very sensitive to the slightest change
                  in air pressure.

Split V- While a bit harder to blow produced a very good raspy old hen tone.

Purple Bat Wing- Great higher pitched call that required little effort to get good sound.

Rippin Red- Good older hen sound. This call was my favorite of the pack.

Green Viper- Good all around sounding call. The pitch fell somewhere in between the Blue Ghost and the Purple
                    Bat Wing.

Straight Deuce- This was my least favorite. It was the most difficult to blow and didn't really seem to provide a
                        distinct enough sound difference.

Overall though I am quite pleased with the set. I absolutely love the different colors. Makes it easier to quickly identify the call you want and for just a few dollars more than the multi packs sets in stores you get twice as many calls. I will absolutely order more when I wear these out. Great job Jason!
