What type of ammo is this 9mm Luger?
« on: March 26, 2015, 03:47:32 PM »
This is old 9mm luger ammo.  Just curious what that shaft of metal is in the center of the hollow-point?

Haven't seen it before.  This is from a bag of ammo given to my by a friend from his days in the Marine Corps in the 80s.

Thanks

Federal Hydra Shok

I carry it in my 38.  Shoots great for Self Defense ammo!

The post is suppose to focus fluid pressures outward producing a large mushroom with a shallower hollow point than others.  Giving a combination of stopping power and deeper penetration.  I saw a pig taken with a 158 grain 357 round at about 8-10 yards.  Quite impressive even if it did not leave an exit wound!  What I like most of all is it seems to group closer to my ball ammo than the other Self Defense ammo.  And much more accurate than my Gold Dot ammo.
