Hi All.  Long time no talk with life being busy.  Last fall my daughter took the hunters ed class at Greenacres Gun Club in Spokane.  What an amazing instructor and a great time we had.  She was the youngest in her class and passed with flying colors.  I highly recommend this particular class to everyone.

So we skipped fall hunting because she wasn't quite ready to get on animals yet.  We did our Easter service and egg hunts with the kids yesterday  and hit the woods this morning.  It was an amazing hunt.  We worked a Jake and two Tom's with two hens.  They put on a show with plenty of strutting and gobbling 100 yards away across the pond.  After 30 minutes the Jake got ran off and one big tom took flight and landed within 20 yards of our decoy.  This is after I repeatedly whispered to my daughter that they don't like to fly in after they are already on the ground, when she had asked me why they weren't flying over.  It saw something with the decoy that made it nervous and she never got on the bird.  It got behind the rock and I gave a little purr to try to bring it back in.  She got a double gobble right next to her but no movement.  A few minutes later I gave a soft yelp and purr and the other tom took flight straight at us, over the decoy and lit 10 yards in front of us and ran another 5 yards right into her lap.  I frantically whispered shoit it, shoot it about 6 times before she quit watching and recovered to drop it with a shot to the neck.  It was extra special because she used my dad's old A5.  She is ready for more and I had to keep telling her how special that hunt was, and they aren't all like that.  So, if you made it this far, thanks for listening to a proud dad.  And if you have been here a long time then you will see that little thing in my profile photo has become a hunter.
Dreams are forever on the mind, realization in the hands.

Congratulations to all the youth hunters!   We roosted some birds on our way home yesterday evening, so i called my buddy that was still down there and have him directions to  where they were.  At 6:40 this morning the kid he took shot his first bird.

Great seeing the youngsters getting out there, hunted the Blues all weekend only saw one other hunter, seems to be dwindling youth participation, we would've had a photo but the gun misfired 5 times on the same bird. Ugh, but my Daughter was still pleased with the weekend, knee deep in every sort of turkey action one could have.

Sorry to hear about our little Turkey Thumper - 5 misfires --- time to get her a new gun?  Wow ....

Congrats to all the successfulyoung hunters in getting their trophies.   I'm jealous ... not sure I'm going to be able to get out for the first time in 15 years due to work .... ugh !

Congrats to all the young hunters, regardless of notched tags or not!  It was a great weekend to be in the woods!  Good weather, and decent turkey activity always makes for good times in the woods

Congrats to all the young hunters that have gotten there birds!  They are some good looking birds!!
Lord , we've been here on days before
and often times you've let me score
Now do you think that on this day
you could send a gobbler down my way?
And , if not , just let me say--
you've given me another day
to hunt the bird I love the best.
I don't mind sharing with the rest
