Teanaway late archery and muzzy bull permit?

What do you guys think about these tags?

Tough hunts and private property to deal with, but someone killed a nice bull last year on public land with a Teanaway permit. I probably wouldn't apply unless you are already familiar with the area.

Yea I knew private ground was an issue but that's about all. Is the private ground somewhat easy to access that time of year? New there was that nice bull taken on public this last year. Your my go to crowd for the down low

Don't get your hopes up for drawing either one, the odds are not good

Says the average was like 8 to ten points.

The average points of those who drew isn't really significant. You could have 10 points and odds of 1 in 1000 and you get lucky and draw. That doesn't change the fact that the odds were 1 in 1000, and most people with 10 points will not draw.

It's a gamble, if the snow doesn't come you don't have to worry about being able to hunt the private land, the elk will be on public land.  If it does snow and bring'em down, you will need permission to hunt private land.  It just depends on how many points you want to burn, and the odd's are not good with 10 points like others have said.  I have 20 points for bull and I have around a 30% chance of being drawn, that is not that good considering I have 20 points.  Either way, good luck in the draw.

Just looking for a decent draw for the regular bull tag with my multi season. Burned quality points with my last multi season three years ago so don't really have much of a shot at drawing another quality tag. You guys have any info on wetside bull tags? Or just any good general seasons on the wetside? Have places to stay in Rochester and clallam bay areas.

If you drew a multi season elk tag, ghost point your bull tag and put in for a quality tag.  Put in for your bull tag when you don't have the multi tag, this is a great year to have a multi tag and not worry about special permits.  The OTC tags this year for muzzy and archery are very good.

I want shot at a branched bull though and my three quality points and never hunting the wet side won't get that done. Idk have awhile to choose what I want to do and will probably change my mind ten times before permits are due lol

If you are a decent hunter and proficient with archery and/or muzzy, you don't need a special permit to get a bull on the west side this year.  Just study the regs and you'll find an otc unit to hunt with those weapons that have elk.

Yes, it's true that if the snows don't come, most of the elk will still be high above the private land.  BUT a LOT of the roads still get closed for snowmobiles.  I live in the Teanaway and got drawn for one of those permits in 2012.  Almost no snow Dec. into Jan.  Ended up finding elk in the further west portion of the unit, but not in the "Teanaway"

I think there's a lot of risk in that hunt. Weather shapes it.  Unless you know you'll get access to private ground where the elk will be if there's big snow, no way would I be risking 20 years of waiting on that.  I almost got royally worked over by the weather on a late quality permit. Different scenario for me, but potential weather issues is something I take heavily into consideration now when looking at this stuff.

Don't forget the lovely little four legged critters called wolves. They have those elk scattered and constantly on the move

You never know. I've had a eastside quality bull tag twice in four years.
