Check this out. . . http://www.bergerbullets.com/twist-rate-calculator/

It looks like the 140 bergers would be out assuming 3150 fps, though it says it would be 'marginally stable'.  The berger bullet data is already there of course, but if you can find the information you can see what it'll crank out for the ABLR's.  My guess is something similar.

Yeah the twist on factory rifles drives me nuts too.  I'm a big Sako/Tikka guy and generally have the same problem.  :bash:

If you're open to it, I'd give a real serious look at the Savage in 6.5-284.  I'm not very fond of how their actions look but those things shoot so dam well, If I were looking for a new store bought rifle in something 6.5 with good FPS, I could easily get over my thoughts on how their actions look.  Something to think about.

For any of the serious heavier long range 6.5 bullets I would go with a 8 twist. I've had 9 twists that shot the 142 Sierras well but I never tried the 140 Bergers in them.

Go the full custom route or you'll always wish you had

For a 6.5 I'd probably go with a 6.5-284 and Lapua brass or a 6.5 Creedmore/.260 with Lapua brass.

I want something a bit faster than the 6.5-284 since it is out there and avaible.  And no savage, I like nice stuff when it comes to my hobbies. There is reason most cheap stuff is cheap, savage is no exception....
Savage make great rifles these days.

One rifle doesn't define a company. But whatever floats your boat.

Didn't offend me a bit. Just trying to clear up your miss conception. They do make more than the Axis line.

So you'll be attaching that new Benchmark barrel to a new BAT receiver I presume.
