They're on the breakroom right now for $120.  Let me know if you want an invite and I get $20 if you buy something.  Thinking about pulling the trigger.  I think the only difference between the GTX and the Light is the leather versus canvas.  I'm a leather fan, but for $180 savings I could be swayed to canvas.

The rule with danger is to only buy their boots made in Portland. Their Chinese boots are just crap. Both the ones you're looking at are American made and good boots. I like those craters, might pick up a pair this summer.

Yeah I jumped on it. They should be here Wednesday. I figured for $120 it was hard to go wrong if they're worth a hill of beans.

Here's a deal.  Forget the leaky Danners...

Well, I hate to revisit this, but the Danners fit great, did an 11 mile hike the first day out... and they leaked the first day out.  I really think a large part of it is the canvas/textile material and not so much the boot itself.  I have this theory that the fabric wears into the Gore-Tex and rubs holes into it at the crease points (usually where my toes bend).  I sent it back and they gave me my money back.

Looking for a pair of leather boots now I guess...

It seems like people love their Kenetreks, but I'm not quite that rich.

Yeah... I'm leaning that way.

Anyone ever tried the Lowa Tibet model?  My gf has Lowas and loves them.

I have a pair of Danner RAT boots, that have been awesome, but they're too big for me.  Can a good boot store take things down a size?  I run out of lace room without double socks... I don't really need them shorter, I just need them to be able to cinch down tighter.

Lowa Tibet's are awesome boots. You should expect a break in period where they may not be comfortable and you might end up with some blisters. This is not uncommon with this style of boot.

You might look at these Salomon's. Very popular and very good reviews.

Also take a good look at the Asolo Fugitive's.

Not uncommon to find smoking deals on Asolo's and even Lowa's sometimes on Sierratradingpost.com

If you need to take up some space in your old boots, try adding a small spacer under your footbed.  Might not be able to take up enough room but it's worth a shot.  That's what a lot of ski boot manufacturers do for half sizes.  One shell per whole size, half sizes get spacers under the footbed.
