Thanks for the pics of gear and good places to set.  Really helps.

I checked a creek outlet from a lake today but it was so low and dry plus mostly mud with way less rock than I recalled, that I didn't set.  Not much time lately but am into this now!

All are using differnt baits and most have a favorite.
My setup: standard mesh trap, the rectangular wire mesh trap you find at the sporting goods store.
Bait cage: suet feeder cage wired to the bottom, yes the bottom not the middle.
Bait: 1/4lb frozen burger patties (2) with the paper left on the patty against the trap and the other wax paper sheet removed.

I believe patience has been the most important ingredient. I leave the traps out for twenty four hours now and they come back with good numbers.
I dont go out but maybe once a month but we have a good time and a great feed.
54 Bugs, Red potatoes, whole mushrooms, onion, sweet corn and Zatarans Crab boil.
Just add cold beer and stir.

Thanks,
It really was good but we had a couple no shows and this left just my buddy and I to clean it up...... we ate like a couple Labradors let loose in a quicky mart.
Don't think I could do this but once every couple of months.

Okay, finally got a productive spot to catch a few dads thanks to a friend of mine. She did some recon work and made sure the dads existed in this particular body of water before we wasted our time throwing pots. We threw out 1 pot Thursday afternoon with a small trout and a can of cat food for bait. We pulled it Friday morning with six dads, threw it back and pulled it Friday afternoon we got 4 more. I know that's hardly enough for a small child to survive on but we kept them more for novelty reasons... Gosh darn it we were damned and determined we were going to eat those suckers. I'm glad we did because they were really good. I don't know if they were unusually good because they came from a river and or because I cleaned them with salt before I cooked them. Our biggest was only 6 1/2" but it had a huge set of claws on em'. Anyway I'm pretty happy so far  :)
