There's a nice block of state on the Mt immediately north of Fish lake. You can hike straight up it from the lake or take Slade rd to N Pink Crk, to Lemanasky, to Van der Shelden, then south on Bear. At the end of bear you are on top of that mountain above Fish. Crowds for deer but before October not bad at all. Big meadows and aspen stands. If you don't mind hiking, take Sinlahekin creek rd to it's end at the gate. Start walking. Up past Timothy Creek there are some old cuts and some big high grassy meadows. Long walk with a bear on your back but pretty country. Don't be confused that just because the sign says "no motorized vehicles beyond this point" that you won't see dirt bikes and ATV's. It's been a long time but I always wanted to get up on the woodpile ridge. No shortage of land but some of it will take some walking.
