What bow is this?
« on: August 20, 2015, 01:46:07 PM »
Can anyone tell me exactly what model Hoyt this is?

Any info on it would be appreciated. Looking at buying it used and don't want to get hosed. Still a bit of a newbie when it comes to bows/brands/value.

And I am really hoping to hear from RadSav on this.  ;)

Look on the riser, XT2000 is just the limb configuration
$300 or less- buy it- if it fits your draw length.

It looks like it has spiral cams also. Those are close to my all time favorite cams on a bow ever! I agree it could be a ultratec

So a Hoyt Ultratec? I am wondering if it is a Hoyt contender?

It says on the riser just above the rest mounting bolt.

That bow looks almost like an exact copy of my Reflex Excursion, my first (and now backup) bow.  Reflex is to Hoyt as Honda is to Acura.  My point being that if you are considering this bow you might also want to check out a Reflex bow, which you should find at a lower price.

Looks like an UltraMag to me.  Maybe 2004 or 2005  :dunno:

Ultatec???

I think the UltraTec was a machined riser and the UltraMag was a cast riser.

As far as value goes, that's tough.  The XT2000 limb is a top shelf limb.  The old Cam & 1/2 was just ok.  That grip IMO is far superior to what garbage they come with now.  I might actually be shooting Hoyt still if they had kept that grip!!  The cast riser really effects the resale.  While I like lot of what that bow has to offer I don't think I would pay more than a couple hundred bucks for a ten year old bow that probaboy didn't hit 300 ibo.  It was only about $400 new ten years ago.  Easy to shoot, dependable, well balanced and great tough limb!

The riser looks too short to be an ultra-tech to me.

For the record, it is an ultramag and I did buy it for a fairly low price. So far I am liking the way it shoots, at least in the backyard @10-12 yards. Well try to hit the range this weekend. :)
