Caught my first bass yesterday.
« on: June 12, 2015, 03:28:08 PM »

He's no giant, but he was a lot of fun to catch. Caught a few more between yesterday and today, but no keepers. I am completely addicted to bass fishing now. It was so much fun watching them come up and strike the Crawfish lure on top of the water and fight like heck on the way in.

Looks like you are getting the hang of it. Isn't that a keeper by definition of the game laws?  looks like under the 12 and not over 17.

By definition you are correct.  :chuckle: I have this rule about only keeping them if I'm going to eat them (which includes the little guys I accidentally kill). Lucky for him, he was barely hooked in the mouth. Hopefully there will be some more hooked soon.

We still need to grab a cup of lifer juice soon. I'll give you a ring when I get back from some travel.

Thanks guys. I don't know what it is about bass fishing, but I am completely addicted. It's so much more fun than trout fishing, and I love trout fishing!

Wait til a big girl gulps that crawfish. You'll really be addicted then.

I'll be doing what I can to make that happen sooner rather than later!

Time on the water.  It's all about time and learning patterns, presentations,  and bait selection.

Get out on Lake Roosevelt in a boat, cast to shore - smallmouth until your arms fall off!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

My lack of boat is starting to become irksome. If I make it through the application process of the new job I am going after it will probably be my next purchase.
