archery targets

My archery target is done so I need to get a new one. I was looking at getting another 20" block for $99 but was wondering if one of the Rinehart blocks for $160 would last longer? Just want some general reviews from people who have used both and could help me justify spending an extra $60 on a target that will take more shots without falling apart

Rinehart 18-1. Literally almost lasts forever with field points only. And arrows pull pretty easily. And its the longest lasting for broadheads I've used. But, any target won't last a long time if you shoot a ton of broadheads into it. They go for about $120-130 and are a MUCH better target than any block.

We used to run a 3-d range in Colorado and Rinehart targets outlasted every other target on the market. Just my  . We had almost 25 of them.

I shoot a crap ton and the 18 and 1 is about the best thing going as far as I know for broadheads.
I go through one every other year due to it being my primary target right now.I am of the mind of building some compressed carpet targets this year to shoot with field points and just use the 18 and 1 for broadhead tuning.If you got the room to do so I would look into building some targets on the cheap

Why not build your own for less than $10 that will last for a couple of years.  Of course you can't use broadheads on it.

Nobody uses cedar bales anymore for target points??  They last forever.

I like the morrel range bag for outside.  It's getting tough around here to find someone that still makes hay bales that will stop arrows.

Best target I ever made...   I made a frame out of 2X10, 4 foot by 4 foot. took black plastic and faced front and back and then covered that with a poly woven material i got from work. then cut a hole in the top and made a hinged door. then I searched craigslist for anyone getting rid of clothes or blankets. I stuffed that thing as full as i could get it. painted some aiming points and BAM lifelong target. At 10 yards shooting a 70 lb bow i cant get my field points to exit the back.
But I also wanted one that was more portable, So i grabbed a burlap sack and placed cardboard inside front and back and then stuffed it with shrink wrap (from work) and clothes (Make sure you cut out any metal objects..."Zipper,buttons") Painted aiming spots and done. I also built a stand that will brake down so i can travel with it.  I will try and post a pic
Targets like these are cheaper and last longer if you can get a hold of the material .....  Just something to think about

I use the Rhine Hart block target, swap out the core due to broad heads when it gets worn out an target itself will last a few years. For $50 for a replaceable core I got no complaints.

I know what you mean! My 4x4 2000 lb bales will stop them but that's too expensive to waste the hay at 225$ a bale but we just made a bunch of 2 stringers that with 1 bale will stop the arrows just b4 the fletching but with another bale behind it will stop 3-4" b4 the fletching. Prob wont last for too many shots though

They used to make the cedar shavings butts but modified the equipment to use straw. Many clubs use them for the indoor ranges (Silver Arrow Bowman does). They are awesome and last a LONG time but are neither cheep or light. shipping gets expensive. They used to be located in Ilwaco but are now close to Raymond Wa.

I have made a few like Z rock01. a couple still sit over at my brothers house so we can shoot, they are cheep and last a long time. there is a company near Tacoma called Ames Ind Targets that makes burlap bag targets that you can buy at many retailers. you just stuff full of plastic bags and such and shoot. they work awesome.

I use the rhinehart 18-1, for broadheads (removable center) and continue to use a black hole target backed up by a bag target.  Works great, each by themselves don't do the job, but together they've lasted a long time.
