Great fishing at Banks lake, in 3 days we caught 165 walleyes and a few were keepers.  Five to be exact and the biggest was 16 1/2. The mosquitoes were biting good too. We then went to Roosevelt and the fishing was not so good. The water temp was 83 degrees on Sunday.

Oh man, the skeeters were relentless. I only fished one evening, the rest of the time was mornings and days only.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

Wow!  That's a lot of fish but the percentage of keepers seems very dismal.

Its sad, I had reservations for another 3 days but I decided to bag it. We fished a number of different spots and different depths. We started with smile blades and went to hard blades. I even tried plugs with no luck. We fished all around Steamboat rock and Barker Canyon. Maybe it was better at the south end of the lake.

The average weight of the fish entered in the May walleye derby was 2.5 lbs.  Mind you that these fish were culled for the heaviest bag weight.   I think they didn't fish in the small fish areas but skipped around until they found bigger fish.
