One lucky Stupid SOB
« on: June 24, 2015, 05:14:49 AM »
Yea that's me.  Got my new bow and was in the basement last night.  I grabbed the wrong arrow, pulled back and it was a half inch too short.  Full draw and the end of the arrow is sitting on my wrist pointed at the joint of my thumb.  While trying to get the arrow to point in ANY other direction the trigger got bumped and fired.  I have a small scrape and lost half a finger nail, but man oh man am I one lucky STUPID SOB!

Well, your not the first and won't be the last.  Glad it wasn't worse!  Could have been so, so, so much worse!  Might be time to go buy a few Lotto tickets.

Me too!!!  My initial reaction when it came off the rest was to let down, and then I realized where it was sitting.  That could have turned out SOOOO much worse.  Very thankful!

Thought this was a special permit thread.

You'll never be so happy to lose a nail  :chuckle:  Glad it wasn't 1000% worse.

Yikes!  I have seen a couple of pictures that did not end well with this scenario.  Glad it didn't get you too bad.

Good thinking on your part!  The instinctive reaction would be to let down, but that would bend the arrow to the breaking point.  Shooting the arrow was the correct decision.

I don't know about the "stupid SOB" part, but you are certainly lucky.  Good for you.

Now, go paint those different length arrows in bright colors so you never again make the same mistake!!!
