101 Sherman Youth Any Whitetail Hunt Help
« on: June 21, 2015, 04:07:55 AM »
I have 3 or 4 youth hunters going with me this year on opening weekend.  My son who had shot 3 deer in 3 years and my 3 novice 14 year old daughters.   We got drawn for nothing in the deer permits. I am thinking of trying to find them a whitetail doe in Sherman 101.  Any help?  Where do I go? :)

To the farmers and tell em you wanna see your daughters shoot their first does! If it were bucks it'd probably be a little different. But a lot of people agree that our buck to doe ratio is off and that's why calling and rattling doesn't work as well as back east or in the south. We have too many does for the bucks to be competitive. As for public land, I only get up high and look for Mulies so I can't help you there.
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

Not sure about your stance on the subject but the whitetails in 101 react really well to bait.  Get off the road a ways find some trails and plop down some bait and a camera.

"Feel free to hunt" area near Haag Cove, Kettle Falls is loaded with does. Camp at the cove and hunt the FFTH area.  :twocents:

Get some maps and you'll do fine.  If Shane PM'd you then you'll do better.  Use his advice and put some work in on the pre-hunt.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

I'm sorry but you don't need help finding public land or whitetails over there. Just get you self a map look at the NFS land and scout it also Google DNR,NFS, and BLM lands. It is very easy and there is a lot of land to hunt. You should have no problem filling the tag.
Boar looking for Sow to hunt with. LOL
