Questions for Peaches Bull tag holders..GMU 336 or 346?
« on: June 29, 2015, 01:53:14 PM »
For those who were drawn for Peaches Ridge bull tag do you prefer to hunt 336 or 346? I personally plan on scouting both sides and will decide closer to the the start of the season. Interested what others will decide? Some of the factors I'm thinking about is the general elk & deer season for 336, distance to both units from my house, what I turn up from scouting, etc.

I plan on hunting the Little Naches only from a time point. I would rather scount one unit really well than both only so so. I will hopefully get up there about 5 or 6 times before the season starts. Good luck

Agreed could be challenging to focus on two areas.  I'm planning on 5 trips before start of season.

So far I'm going solo.  Flipped a coin and it came up 346.  Plan on spending end of August and all of archery season scouting for left overs for my rifle rut tag.  Find a caller and I would love to try to stick one.

346 has no general archery/ muzzy seasons so less pressure.

Concentrating my efforts on 346, 3 scouting trips so far with cameras up in the Norse peak wilderness, thinking about spending this  weekend playing in the Crow Basins area. On foot.... my feet, wish I had horses for this Hunt.

My second trip this weekend. I'm also be checking out crow basin and few other areas. Horses would be nice but I believe there is a lot of area to hunt that horses are not needed. good luck with scouting...

I've been over 3 times so far...  not really looking for elk yet.  I'm mainly concerned about being comfortable and enjoying the time away from work and the kids!  I haven't been able to find any hotels in that unit that have a pool, do you guys know of any?  Also, are there any spas you guys would recommend?  And maybe a sports bar or something?

there will be an outfit up there with horses, they will pack out your bull if you get it to a trail, for payment of course.

I would look at the hotels in Cle Elum or look at staying at suncadia if  you are serious.

Not being serious  :)

I typically hunt Taneum but have been scouting out a few areas over in Little Naches also.  I wouldn't know what to do if I was actually comfortable during elk season, about the only comfort are those naps right after lunch.  That is if I can find a place to lay down without ants eating me alive!

I'm curious, how many of you will be camped somewhere along Little Naches river road?  How many plan on backpacking in somewhere?  I don't have any horses, or goats or a teenager willing to help so I'm debating on where to camp.  I spent a few days in Norse Peaks wilderness a few years ago and it was incredibly beautiful in there!

My initial plan is to be 'somewhere along the Naches River Rd or neighborhood.  Likely be on my own too.  Camp out of my truck until I get a spot pinned down for a trailer camp.  No AC or running water, but your welcome to stop by for lunch and an extra cot in the shade.  Ice will be a rare commodity in my camp, much less ice cream :chuckle:

Good spot. That's just up the road from where I saw a cat swimming last week :chuckle:

I think I'd stay in 336 myself because it's where I already hunt and I'm pretty sure I could stick a bull.
