Washington resident angler survey
« on: June 30, 2015, 12:22:08 PM »
Anyone else get asked to take this survey?

Hello Angler,

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is looking for ways to expand fishing license options for resident anglers. Because you are a valued participant in Washington's sporting tradition, we are asking for your help to determine the best license options to meet your needs. Please take a few minutes to complete our survey. It asks about your level of fishing activity and the kinds of new license options that you prefer. It is a short survey and should take only 5 minutes to complete. If you have any questions about the survey, you can contact me at frank.hawley@dfw.wa.gov.

I was contacted. I wont be taking the survey however. They charge me for every little thing and for a $10.00 fee I would gladly take thier survey. I will not work for them for free.

Just watch out with wdfw surveys.  I believe they have an agenda and preferred results picked out.  Then they write a survey tailored to getting the responses they are after and use said survey to implement the program or fees that they wish.  They just need a public survey to be able to say "see we have broad public support for this.  the public wishes for us to do xyz"........

I got the survey and took it.  I don't remember any proposals on it that looked favorable to me.  I agree with those above in that it looked like something that could be used in support of an agenda.

They are trying to get you to auto renew your licenses...YA RIGHT.

They are also trying to get you to pay for a "pass system" for family members to fish for free... YA RIGHT.

As was said before, they tailored it to suit their agenda.
Wishing I was fishing...or in Wyoming

I kind of like the idea of one fishing license for everything – the rest of the proposals are gimmicks to get more money.  Well, they are all geared to produced more money  -

The survey I got asked about a new 80 dollar fishing license that was all inclusive. Combo license, Columbia River endorsement, two pole endorsement, crab punch card/endorsement, ect. Basically they were trying to call this new license a great deal bc you got to save 20 some bucks buying them together in a package. I will never spend 80 bucks for any residential fishing license. What's next, special permit system for "quality" fisheries smh just another gimic to try and get more people to spend more $$$$. I would however support this under one condition. They prove to me how fishing opportunities are going to improve with this new system. At the end of the day, they don't say a word about improving our resources. They ask for more sportsman $$$$$ expecting us to go with the flow and while they do nothing new to improve our current state. Anyone ever wonder if the license fees were going to go down this year since we aren't paying for millions of steelhead to be raised in the hatcheries anymore? Oh no, we get far less opportunity and they want more $$$$... standard Washington taxes, what should I expect. taxation without representation

I am also under the impression that any information you give them will be used against us.

I know there are plenty of people that used to always get a license that either no longer do or get it last minute.  Most regarding the fading numbers of hatchery brats....and no wild fish rebound to fill the void.  I don't know if those licenses that are forgone are being replaced by new comers.
