Ipad SD card reader
« on: July 03, 2015, 01:42:46 PM »
Does anyone use an adapter that works to be able to transfer pictures from their SD cards to their Ipad? I bought a little adapter from amazon that didn't work so looking at other options. Would like to be able to use my Ipad since it is small and light and also like being able to view my pictures in the field so I can decide if I need to move my camera or not.

That's what I use. Picked the adapter up from Walmart. Works great and allows me to look at what pictures I got right then and there.

I have an iPad mini and had to buy the adapter from apple. All the other ones I tried didn't work.

My next phone and computer won't be apple. I liked them for a while but I am getting sick of them. Just put a dang usb slot on your Ipads!   :bash:

I have the Apple sd card reader for the iPad. Works fine. Does not work on the 4s and won't work on any of the newer phones. Maybe you could use an adapter I guess.

I thought I heard it on here, but someone mentioned taking one of those sd card picture frames with them to view pics.  Seems like a good idea, they are light.

Don't buy any of the adapters but the apple one to hook to iPad. You can save a couple Bucks buying other brands but have issues and in the end you will be at the same price or more when you have to buy a second. There is no way to load pictures to any of the phones from sd card.  I have done a lot of research on that and can't be done do to limitations on the software for the phone..

So you can read sd cards with a iPhone 6?

Is it an adapter from the phone to the sd card reader directly or is there another adapter between the card reader and the phone? Wondering if I can use the card reader I already have if I get a new phone.
Thanks.

Not that I know of Josh. Mine is the APPLE plugin to download pictures from your iphone to all APPLE products. I'm sure somebody who is in the know, could answer it.

You have actually transferred pics from SD card to iPhone?  I have adapter and have read online that it is not possible and does not work for me..  Need more details if possible..

I have the Apple sd card reader/adapter and it does NOT work for transferring pictures from the SD card to the iPhone6.  It works great for the iPad mini though.  I'm not aware of any way to copy pics from an sd card directly to an iPhone.

However...  going forward I will probably use my microsoft surface for grabbing pics off of the cameras.  It was waaaaaayy faster for importing pics and I can import them to a specific folder which makes them a lot easier to organize when you have several cams.

For example, on one camera I had so many pics it was taking dang near 30 minutes for the iPad to pull them off, my buddy had his surface and he copied them off in under a minute!

The adapter I bought is for transferring pictures off my iPhone, using a regular USB cord, onto a different brand laptop, if I remember right.

Ok Steve. You're doing the opposite of what I want to do. Sounds like coop2424 already figured out its not possible.
