Mule Deer in Mountain Goat habitat
« on: July 03, 2015, 04:12:35 PM »
Any input on Mule deer on "mountain goat turf?"
Example: if you were to go for mulies up high and early, do you think that mountain goats would have ANYTHING to do with their habits and/or movements?

I'm scouting a new area and have never had to consider goats before...

Thanks!

Not too much. I've watched Goats feed near Blacktail, Muledeer and Elk and they usually get along pretty good. Most of the small issues I have seen is when they meet face to face on a small trail. Its fun to watch who is the most stubborn.
The mountains are calling and I must go

Nope no problem between muleys and goats. Very little competition for food, a little for cover. The goats in CO actually watch the muleys for their behavior...if a muley spooks then the goats follow. In fact if you've found goats, look even harder for a muley as you will most likely discover a toad!!
