Spike or antlerless?
« on: July 05, 2015, 09:02:03 PM »
So this may be a stupid question, but i am a first time hunter so here it is. If a GMU say Spike or antlerless can I hunt bigger bucks? Like say a 3 point?

No. Not unless you drew/draw a tag for that area.

Not to nitpick but the correct term for a maleelk is bull, not buck. may have been a typo I don't know

1 more point of clarification and I hope this doesn't confuse but to answer your original question it does depend on whether you are hunting in a "true spike" unit or just a "spike" unit. In true spike units, neither antler can branch at all, in spike units however it just has to have 1 antler that doesn't branch. I saw a 1x6 years ago but passed because I was worried that I may have misidentified it, however he would've been a legal bull
