new project boat!
« on: July 13, 2015, 10:16:03 PM »
Picked up this 17' mirror craft today, motor runs strong, has been gutted out already, gonna put in a new floor with a stepped front deck, some boxes in the rear to mount the downriggers, that will also hold some planos, a rod/gun locker on one side, re mount the console with the live well in front of it, and call it done

Been wanting a smaller boat for duck hunting and quick fishing trips, I think this one will do nicely for now. I paid 1000$ for it, but it came with the newer trailer, 2 fish finders, 2 down riggers, 3 cabelas big man seats with pedastals, 2 deep cycle batteries, a bow mount, and a nice boat cover. Hopefully I'll start getting it together in a few weeks!

I see it came with a bonus big black anchor hanging off the transom......   :chuckle:   :chuckle:  Actually, I think those older Mercs did a lot better than anything made since 1995, at least.

That's a nice boat, decent price even if you did have to replace the motor sooner than later.

The good news is I have a 7.5 mercury kicker floating around, I'll stick it on the back, gotta figure 2 will get me home lol!

I think it'll last awhile, seemed pretty strong, I'll get a compression test eventually. Even if I threw the motor away, and scrapped the hull, I've got a nice trailer and accessories for a nice 1752 welded Jon

yeah, the more I look into it, im VERY happy I pulled the trigger. kind of an impulse buy, but I wont loose no money on it. im thinking itll take about 500$ to put it how I want it, with a new floor, and some paint, but that's nothing for a full out duck/fishing boat!
