Tell me about Banks Lake...
« on: July 14, 2015, 05:24:32 PM »
My nephew, my son and I are planning a trip to either Brewster or Banks Lake this weekend. I have fished Brewster quite a bit, and have a good supply of sockeye, and would love more, but am not looking forward to weekend crowds up there. So, I am looking at Banks Lake, to get the boys on some good action.  I plan on launching at the State Park. Is trolling Devils Punch Bowl productive for walleye? Is the west side of Steam Boat Rock better? I kind of plan to find 12 to 20 feet of water and start trolling. Please shoot me a PM if anyone is willing to give advice. Thanks!
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

Not much of a walleye fisherman, but I would do the west side of steamboat, if the wind was down.    Deeper water, bigger fish.

Lots of weeds in 12' of water a few weeks ago. We fished Barker Canyon and the south end of Steamboat rock in 14' to 20'.

Had a great time with my son and nephew. My nephew has been elbow deep in college for quite a few years and really enjoyed getting out on the water. Fishing was good, boat limited by 0930 with 15-16" walleye. Caught quite a few smaller ones that were turned loose. Got home, cleaned fish, took care of the boat and gear, then went into Papas for a feast of hot wings. ( Papas has outstanding Buffalo NY style hot wings) Was a great day.
