New To Washington State - Looking for Archery Only Range
« on: July 14, 2015, 11:03:02 PM »
Hey all! Just moved here from New York. I know, I know, when you think of NY, or better yet NYC hunting is not the first thing that comes to mind. However, although I grew up in Queens, my weekends as a child were spent going upstate which I am missing more than anything. Grew up hunting rabbits with beagles, got into Deer late around 24-25. 35 now and just trying to settle in here, find a job rather than find a place to hunt. I might even be going back for a week just to hunt the Catskills one last time with my 73 year old Father. So many memories, I wish it were only a couple hours away...

Anyways, I was wondering if there were any Archery Only Range locations around, I am in West Seattle but can drive. Can be indoors, that's what I used back in Queens. If there are no Archery only ranges then a combo shoot/archery would be fine. I saw some on google maps but they look more like Clubs then open to the public ranges, at least as far as I can tell. Maybe someone with first hand experience can tell me what my best bet would be?

If there are any hunters in West Seattle, whats up! I'd be up to grab a beer and talk, don't have any friends here yet.

Great to be here and hope to learn from you experience Washington hunters in the near future.

Chris

Silver arrow bowman I5 mile post 226. $2 to shoot all day! We have a 50 target walk though course about 3miles long. Flat range and indoor clubhouse/range.. It's mostly used in the winter time. We have 125+members and members from Seattle to bc
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Only places I know of near there are Cedar River Bowmen in Enumclaw, Tacoma Sportsmen's Club, or Skookum range out in South Hill.

Not Archery only, but the closest outdoor range I know of is Kenmore range outside of Bothell.
20 minutes North of Bellevue, so add another 15 to get across I-90.
Can join, or 17.50 / day   They have a  40-50 bag walk through, and a flat range.
KnockPoint in Lynnwood has a 20 yd indoor range - $10.00

Old enough to know better.
Young enough to go for it.

Nockpoint looks great and 20 yards is perfect. Learning a recurve, left the compound back in NY. $10 is right up my alley, I used to pay $13 in NY. And looks like without traffic its only 30 mins drive. Thanks for the recommendations to everyone.

Be sure to support the Seattle parks plan to put a range in San Point(old navy base) now called magnussen park. I think it's a sticky in the outdoor advocacy section.
