Just bought a new browning 30 06 BAR. Looking to put scope on it. Have approx 6-7 hundred to spend. What do you suggest?

Leupold VX-3L CDS.

You can find them for under $800.  Solid Scope.

Hard to beat Leupold in that price point.

I could blast out my favorite brand or ask what type of hunting and shooting you do and if you are looking for a lightweight setup or something that is a bit more bulky.

That said, I own exactly zero Leupolds.

I would look at Nikon, Zeiss, Burris, Minox.

A used Zeiss or Swaro is where I'd start.

I just picked up a Minox ZA5 on an open box special from camera land and I'm very happy with it.

Make sure you check B&H Photo whether you've decided on a scope or not. I saved about $300 on a new Steiner from them and had it in 3 days.

Go to a good store that stocks most brands and look through them, inside and outside.  Everyone's eyes are different.  As much as I want to own Leupolds, they just don't work for me.  Have had Leupolds, Vortex, Burris, etc., but Nikon Monarchs are on most of my rifles, except for say a period correct scope on an older gun.

Some info here: http://precisionrifleblog.com/2014/09/19/tactical-scopes-field-test-results-summary/

One word of caution is brand loyalty will get you no where in this day and age.
Many of the manufactures produce cheap versions of their scope and over the years for who-knows-why I grabbed a few during impulse buys. I have several  from Leupold, Zeiss, Vortex and Nikon that are absolute crap but the higher cost models by each brand are high quality.

This is one of the few instances where the cost usually is reflected by higher quality.

My next will be a Nightforce SHV 3-10X42mm. http://www.longrangehunting.com/articles/nightforce-shv-3-10x42mm-review-1.php

It may be worth a look.

So I ended up buying a leupold 3 X 9 VXR firedot with 30mm main tube and 40mm OL. Can"t wait to use it! 499.00 at bass proshops. Thanks to the people that sent me messages but it just wasn"t what I wanted.
