2007 WA Archery Bull
« on: September 19, 2007, 10:54:10 PM »
I will tell the short version and hopefully the long version might make a magazine in the future. I emailed the pics to a member here who said he would add tehm to my post so hopefully this works.      I drew an eastside big bull tag and with the help of many was able to have an awesome hunt and got a bull of a lifetime. I tried to do everything your suppose to, talked to past tag holders, talked to game bios, got maps , scouted even though it was a long road trip, got in shape shot my bow faithfully and packed in with horses and mules to get away from other hunters. Believe me it was worth it! We got on this bull the fourth day and believe me we had logged a lot of miles by then . We were in a deep canyon and after a round about hike to get the wind right and two failed setups the third time was a charm. My brother cow called him in and he stopped in front of a tree I had ranged at 28 yards to bugle and I got a good shot and the G5 did the rest. In thirty seconds he was dead in front of us. It was an awesome experience and to get to share it with my dad who packed us in and my brother and brother in law who are the best hunting partners a guy could have topped it all off! We got the whole hunt on video so hopefully it will be on Steve Chappells Extreme Bulls 5 video as it was his camera he sent us to use. He is a beauty with mass and palmation you really have to touch and see to believe. He is a 6x7 that we rough scored at 370 and hopefully I will get a green score real soon. I feel very fortunate and lucky to have harvested this bull of a lifetime especially in our state and wish everyone who really loves to hunt elk with a bow could one day experience how I feel. Out of consideration for guys who helped me out with info on the area I am not going to give out the eastside unit name so please don't ask. Sorry for the short and sweet version here but really the pics tell it all!  Scott  nwhunter

scott...here's the pis of your bull. congrats, way to get it done.

Awesome nwhunter, sounds like you made the most of your tag. I am going crazy reading all these success stories knowing my tag will not get used until December.

Next time you want to keep your hunting area a secret, go back and delete your post bragging about the unit you drew....

Great bull!!! there are some dandies down there for sure.  Way to make the wait to draw worth while!

Thanks for that info General Dissaray! I didn't think I needed to cover my tracks that much but should have known someone would put it out there. That is why we don't get to see all the animals on here we could because someone always has to dig up the nitty gritty, which is fine, but why post it?? If you were trying to be helpful you can use the pm. By the way I don't brag either. Thanks for taking the fun out of this for me. Scott

Yeah no need to post something like that, but whatever.  Even if people know where you got that bull doesn't mean they'll be hunting there.  Every unit is pretty big, and most produce some quality bulls, so its not like the unit you drew is the only one to produce awsome bulls like the one you connected on, but I know the feeling about trying to keep it a secret.  OH well.  That is one incredible bull though, congrats on taking it with a bow...that's hard work, great job.

It really wasn't that I personally feel the need to keep it a secret from others it was the fact that several guys that helped me out with info requested that I didn't give out the unit name if possible so it was mostly out of respect for them. This was all after I had posted on here after the draw results. Your right the units are huge and its no real secret the good units in our state I just don't want the guys who helped me out to feel like I stabbed them in the back. Glad everyone enjoys the pics and story. Scott

Getting red x's here.  Darn!  Sounds like a monster though, and the best part is that you didn't have to drive 3500 miles.
(I can see them now)
HOLY HELL!!!!!!!!!!  Awesome bull. I probably only saw one or two bulls that would have beaten him in score down in NM, but none had the character and the traits that I desire like this one.  BULL of a LIFETIME INDEED!  Congrats!!!!!!!

Got him green scored today grossed 380 and nets 366. Will see how he does after the sixty days. Right now he should make the top four in the state. The unreal thing is his mass measurement is allmost the same on the bottom as the top! nwhunter

One hell of a bull Scott! You worked for it and deserve it. Don't let general ruin it for you. Maybe he didn't mean to come off harsh...or maybe he is one of the information suppliers?  :dunno: He should have PM'd you for sure.

Just remember...everytime you look at your bull you will know how you feel. It doesn't matter what anybody else says.

You were trying to do right for the people who supplied you help and that is something to be said for. I know a lot of people who would care less...like my last hunting partner of 15 years!

Enjoy bud! :brew:

Thanks guys ,nice to see my bull and story resurface from early fall. Still hard to believe I got a bull like that after all the years of hunting and hoping and dreaming about it. Its in the process of being mounted and will  have it back for the Puyallup show. Can't wait to see it. Having an offset shoulder mount looking right with closed mouth, should be awesome. nwhunter

I will tell the short version and hopefully the long version might make a magazine in the future. I emailed the pics to a member here who said he would add tehm to my post so hopefully this works.      I drew an eastside big bull tag and with the help of many was able to have an awesome hunt and got a bull of a lifetime.
