I was wondering if anyone has caught humpies on the north side of Camano Island?
Opens Aug1st

Copy that.... Just wondering if anyone has fished up there with any luck?

I’ve caught pinks in Utsalady Bay many years ago.  I assume they still pass through there on their way up the Skagit & Stilly.

Anyone know if they are up by kayak pt yet?  I won't be able to get my boat out tomorrow but might look for a good place from shore.

Fished yesterday afternoon from ~3:30pm until ~7pm.  Most of the flood and into slack.  Picked up one at 80ft during slack.  Guys around us each picked up one (2 boats), and that was it.  North of shipwreck.

In other wins, I caught a crab pot while trolling in 200ft of water.  I didn't know my line was strong enough to bring up 100 feet of leaded line and a whole pot, but turns out it is.  I bet that is one the guy never expected to get back again.

Limited on Dungies with the gf as well.

Bottom line: We sucked this weekend.

Dropped pots off hat and motored south. Joined the boats and began trolling. Hooked up, long line release. Keep going, hook up, jumper and threw the hook, keep going, fish on get to the rod no fish. Keep trolling, fish on, bring it in and right behind the boat comes a behomith of a seal that grabbed my fish, took it under and then came up and devoured it right on the surface by u. 4 takedowns....zero fish.

Go pull pots. Two of the four had one side of the pot open....old pots getting worn out. Lots of females and small males. Soaked them one more time, called it by noon with only three crab.

Oh well.....I've had great fishing every time we've been out. Just not my day.

3/5 on Saturday, 0/1 on Sunday  Fished south of Muk all the way down and half way across the bar.  Seemed to do better out in the middle of nowhere then with the fleet up against the shore.  On Sat, most boats looked to have 1-3 fish and only saw maybe 3 actually caught on Sunday.

13 crab on Sat and 2 on Sunday, they must just take the day off.

Good pink bite this morning but the crabbing sure has dried up.  All small, soft or female.

Fished on Saturday from the ferry down to shipwreck, avoided the boat crowd just south of there.
We did ok, put 3 silvers and 1 pink in the boat, lost 5 at the boat and had 2 takedowns that we never saw.

Just my observation from Sunday was that the bite was early, we had lines in the water at 5:30 and the first fish in the boat at 5:40, had the last fish in the boat around 9 with all the fun inbetween, after that we changed depth, speed, gear etc with only one takedown bewtween 9-11:30.
Had fish all over the finder at 40ft on down to 100ft, kept in them but no luck.

Did get a limit of crab for us both in one pull (4 pots) and even had a few soft we threw back.

Saw h2ohunter and his broinlaw, they did not even wave at us, even when we were 40yds off his port side, watched the broinlaw loose a fish even., Or even when they ran north and went right past us....but head...

One thing i noticed was that h20 was trolling faster than we were.... :twocents:

The pinks should be in thick soon, and then it will be taking the kids out to have some fun...

Was trying to keep my speed right around 1.5. I like to normally troll a touch slower but figured with a few less fish in the area we should cover a little more ground. We did get all of our take downs on the bright pink wiht glitter skirt hoochie....none on the plain ol pink hoochie.
