Any word on if the pinks are in the Puyallup yet? Heard that if you put in the time you might get one but its not hot yet? Probably going down on Saturday.
One of my buddys and his gal went down today, after they figured out they were fishing too shallow of water, they went deep and both limited out in less than an hour.. So unless something goes wrong, Saturday and for the next 6 weeks or so you should be fine.

yup. Just heard the exact same thing.

PS. You guys can debate this fishery all day long...but you (all) apparently fish it!

There are some fish in now, I'm sure, but lower stretch doesn't open till 8/10. Be sure to check the regs as there are some day closures and other interesting regs.

I drive across the 66th bridge and down N. Levee Rd twice a day.  Already non-native idiots who don't read the regs fishing the lower section.  Good way to get points for those so inclined. :police:
Yep, I called the hotline today at about 1pm, the lady said Wardens were on the Puyallup today, so I told her to send them up between Freeman and the 66th street bridge. 4 guys fishing it that aparently can't read. If you show up to fish on the Puyallup, and nobody else is around, wouldn't you figure out pretty quick that it's closed???!! She said they get multiple calls every day about clowns fishing the closed section of the river.

There are clowns on the river? Now I know where the phrase " theres a circus in town" came from.  :chuckle: And when it opens it turns into a zoo!

Got to meet "TheHunt" today on the river. Great guy. No fish for me though, only stayed about an hour. Out of like 30 people I probably seen 7 pinks caught.

I've been reading this thread.... Flossing VS. Who cares....bottom line is, fish that are hooked in the mouth or forward of the gill covers, are legal...I don't really keep pinks anyways..... How's the fishing? That is the point of the thread? Correct? Lemme know please....my line desires to get wet....thanks....
Its the goin'.....Not the gettin'

I agree with most on here that you should feel free to go catch/floss/snag/whatever you want to call it all the humpies you want as long as you retain fish only fish legally hooked.  If that's what you're into, go have fun and enjoy your catch!
I have to be honest, the word "fun", usually associated with fishing, is not part of my vocabulary for the Puyallup River pink fishery.  The quicker I can catch my limit and get out of the madness, the better.  Even when I don't get a limit I can only stand 2-3 hours at a time. :o

I guess I need to make friends with a boat owner so I can fish somewhere besides the river.  I tried the water off Browns Point with my float tube a couple of years ago but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was taking a chance of being attacked and sunk by a rogue seal looking to steal my catch. :yike:
Fun is indeed possible if just looking for a taught line, But I absolutely agree with you - The sooner you can get out of there the better. If I could limit out in an hour on even small fish, Im gone. You wont see me toss back a legal fish, ever.

If I had the chance to write on here, how is the fishing today. I would have to say," fish on, fish on, fish on, and so on and so forth" Don't you love it. The corkies of choice are..... dark green with black spots/ 1/4 inch size, with dark red with black spots, 3/16 inch above. I used a piece of blood red yarn, make sure your yarn is cut above the curve of the hook. Or the fishing will slow down. Red hook. I forgot the smelly jelly/shrimp today. Which increased my catch by 75 % But did not seem to matter today. Only one of 45 or so fish during a 2 hour period was foul hooked. Had one really nice silver on, guessing 14lbs. He ran up and down, the final jump he broke the line. Probably do to worn line from humpies. Oh well!

Finally went down for a look today and boy do I regret that decision.  After cleaning my first fish I rinsed my hands in the river and shook them to dry off the excess water.  In so doing my wedding ring flew off and I heard it clank against a rock and then enter the water.  Tried to find it for quite awhile but it was hopeless.  It landed in shallow water but the water is so murky I really had little chance of finding it. :(

It's a huge shot in the dark but if anyone finds a basic gold ring and has the heart to contact me to return it I can identify it by telling you what the inscription says.  Thanks.

Where were you fishing at? Your location would be really helpful. I'm down there 3 or 4 times a week
