Do you Scale your dogs teeth?
« on: August 10, 2015, 08:55:48 PM »
I was just curious how many of you dog owners do your own dental work on your dogs? I just got done doing some past do dental scaling on Chief my Chessie  and wondered how many of you do the same? They want a pretty penny to do a cleaning for your dog so I always "Trained" my dogs to let me mess with thier mouths. Chief is the second Chessie of mine i do general cleaning for. I usually just scale the teeth from time to time dont really brush for him. He is not a chew hound so he needs a little help from tine to time.

What say you?

BTW i just use some dental picks i purchased at the auto parts store or harbour freight for the  job. Like today i try and do it in phases after i have run is butt down so he dont fight me too much...  He doesnt normally fight it because he knows Im more hard headed than he is!

I brush my dogs teeth 3-4 times a week. The toothpaste is either peanut butter or beef flavored. I cant remember what the label says but it smells like hell. She actually really enjoys it and her last checkup the vet says that she has great teeth. She's only 5 1/2 years old but hopefully it pays off in the long run.

You have 4 britts!

I have found that if you start when they are pups by sticking your hands in thier mouth they dont fight it as much. Me and Chief butt heads plenty, but he has a full understanding of who is the the Master in the house...
