Danner Ridemaster Boot
« on: August 13, 2015, 03:17:35 PM »
I've had three pairs of Danner Pronghorns the last two years, all of which started leaking near the end of hunting season.  Other than that I loved them.  I came across these Danner Ridgemaster boots (link below).  They seem to be the made in USA version of the Pronghorn (for $100 more).  Does anyone has experience with this boot?  I'm hoping they are just as comfortable as the Pronghorn, but with better durability.  Would like to hear any opinions.

I wore my Pronghorns for 2 years and they didn't leak until the end of the 2nd year. I sealed the sole seams with tent sealer and sprayed the outside of the rest of the boot with a rainguard and they were good for another year and a half. I then used the invisible Flex-Seal on them and they're good to go for another year or two, I hope. Love the Danner Pronghorns and as you can tell it's kind of hard to part with them with the tread still in great shape after 5 years of hard hunting. I'm not looking forward to the day when I have to get a new boot.

Just make sure you try them on.  Pronghorns seem very comfortable to me, but the other Danners did not.

Sportco in Fife has aDanner that is a step up from the pronghorns, USA made, Eastridge.  Replacable Sole, etc..  Pronghorns were $157, the Eastridge were $189 if I recall....

That's some dedication to your boot.  As soon as mine started leaking I took them back into Cabelas and they replaced them.  They weren't so nice about it on the third return though.

Duckslayer-
Any issues with the sole separating?  A lot of reviews I read on Lowas had people complaining about it.  Don't mean to hi-jack your thread, just curious!

No not at all.. I read almost every review possible on the boots before purchasing and never read anything about it that's interesting. I did read a lot about Kenetrek having really soft soles and wearing out prematurely though.

I own the ridge masters, love em. Going on my 2rd year now no complaints. Broke in real quick, feet never hurt. I'd deff buy another set if needed.

Apparently the ridgemasters have been discontinued.  There are still some floating around various websites, but in limited sizes.  Couldn't find my size so I went with the "Elk Hunters" instead.
