East Side Steelhead
« on: August 20, 2015, 02:40:29 PM »
Anyone east side steelhead fishing yet?

Numbers are looking OK across McNary.

Probably going to pull plugs at the mouth of the Umatilla this weekend.

I heard a few are being caught below Ice Harbor bobber fishing with shrimp.

It's open below Mcnary and in the Snake but the reach wont open until later. We pulled plugs in all of my spots that usually produce and nothing! Heading out tonight with some shrimp to give that try.

Still fishing the Columbia below Mcnary and at the mouth of the Snake. I won't move up to Ice Harbor until October.

I do use lighted lures but not as much as years ago. Makes me sick that you can't get the Vortex anymore. The lighted lures are now disposable and I have issue with that. They do work though but so does shrimp and bobber fishing is very relaxing way to fish.

Oh man! I still have one old vortex with the replaceable battery. I usually head above ice harbor at the lock once the weather gets really cold . Have had some crazy nights in that little whirlpool!
