Sinlahekin
« on: August 19, 2015, 02:15:49 AM »
My father and I are planning on hitting the Sinlahekin Unit this year.  I know, I know, there are no deer and its a pumpkin patch during general season...  I am a wet-sider and just found out there is a fire out in that area.  Anyone have any information on where this fire is or how big its getting?  I am unable to find much info due to the focus on the Chelan fire.

The fire shouldn't disturb the Sinlahekin area. Have fun. I hunt that area a lot.

Thanks Grundy53.  I hadn't heard anything other than there were a couple fires in that area.  Had no clue how severe they were or anything.  Hoping to have my first successful hunt in the sinlahekin.  Fingers crossed.

The map is interactive.  Move north, zoom in and out etc.

Better keep an eye on the fires, looks to be heading into the Sinlahekin from the south end. I really hope it stops soon but with all the fire out there I am not sure we will see it. I love that entire valley from north of Palmer lake right through South Pine creek but is not looking good now.

Looking at the current fire maps it appears that the fire has stalled around Blue Lake, if this is correct the headquarters still has some breathing room. Just remember that a change in the wind can change things very quickly, and the winds are supposed to continue until 11:00pm tonight. Also the maps may not be updated often enough.

I have family that live in loomis. They send its at blue lake and head up the valley towards loomis. This year might not be the best year to head over that way.. good luck..

Ya hopefully. It would just be sad. The cousins made 100ft fire lines last night trying to stop it.l from coming up the town. Two of the extended family have lost there home yesterday in between Omak and tonasket. One they made a 30ft fire line in it and it still jumped over.
