We had about 45 seconds of rain this morning.  It was heartbreaking that it didn't last  :'(

I was considering a high hunt (deer) this year but it wouldn't be a very good year to reenter that fray.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Alpine Lakes should be okay to go into, and the Pasayten is looking pretty good, as long as highway 20 is open so you can get there. I suppose you were planning on hunting Glacier Peak?

They are saying anywhere from 60 to 80 percent chance of rain in Yakima both Saturday and Sunday.   I'm pretty sure it will rain n the hills.

A big problem may be smoke. I had to bag a scouting trip last weekend in the Alpine Lakes because the smoke was so low.

with all the closed areas, those areas that are open will be jam packed with folks.  Should be a fun hunt for those that are still planning on going.  Maybe with enough rain they will open things up again, but I wouldnt count on that if you are going on this hunt.

I'm hoping that nobody finds my secret spot and that I have it all to myself. We'll see in about 3 weeks.

Because at least ten thousand people probably just googled it.  Somewhere there is a guy who actually hunts there and they are now about to blow you up.

Exactly.  :chuckle:  The ones who hunt it should be blowing up some inboxes with requests to delete the post shortly.

Or the strategy is:  Announce a good place to hunt for the world to see, then have all the old timers figure it will be crawling with newbs who read it on the internet so the old timers don't go.  The newbs will be getting lost along the trail, so the one guy has it all to himself.

spend some time at that trailhead and you will figure out how popular it is. It's no secret spot and the trail is wide enough to drive a golf cart. A blind man can find his way up there. Just follow the crowd, hunters and hikers.

Probably one of the most popular wilderness access hikes in the cascades.
