I never shot a groundhog or even checked if it was legal but I like shooting squirrels. Man that is some fun shootin. My buddies are getting the plan set for a montana squirrel shootout. Not sure I can make it this year but if I do that will be a treat.

I didnt know there was groundhogs here you could shoot.  MY buddy was asking about that.  They dont taste too bad either, at least int he midwest they were good eating.

Very cool.  You can actually see the shockwave of the bullet approaching and, I think maybe, I can see the bullet just prior to the hit.

My dad farms in Yakima Valley (Sunnyside) and some of the farmers actually hired a shooter to come in and blast the little b@st@rds, they destroy the root system in grapes and orchards.

The topic about racoon, the other dark meat, forget about it.  I would rather have groundhog with carrots, potatoes, and onions in the slow cooker than racoon.

According to the Regs, in Washington only the Hoary and Olympic marmot are protected.  Fitz- it does look like you can see the bullet in one frame, but it's just a spot on the brush behind it.  It's more obvious in the full size pictures.

If I can find the pic I'll post it.... Next shot was at that one and I have a pic of him turning with the bullet just barely missing him.

I want to go shoot some groundhogs too.  Are they only onthe dry side or are they everywhere?  The ones you can shoot?
