Primary will be the 243 with 95gr Partitions and using a 300 WIN MAG for back up if further influence is needed.

That surprises me - not that I'm doubting you.
I just thought a 25 cal with a good BC would fly with the 6.5's.........    But I honestly don't pay much attention to that stuff so.....

I've never seen any of the long distant shooters i know use a 25 caliber bullet. 6mm and the 6.5's are the ticket. Even 30 calibers aren't that popular. The 308 168 grn Sierra's seems to be a has been almost.

Makes sense now that you mention that.

When I was a young man, I recall the 25-06 being the sexy caliber.

That was before all of today's cool calibers.

What do you think would be the best caliber to shoot a wolf with ? I do not want to NOT blow it to smithereens as I want a rug or full mount.

And no typical arguing please. Just answer this question plain and simple.
Idaho a 25 caliber or bigger.  Washington I'd use a 22 lr.

I brought my Savage 6.5 Creedmoor with some hand loaded 140 VLD's. Haven't anything except one cow moose and a bear and a couple grouse. It's thick, steep, nasty territory here.

We've just been riding around on our quads, but the weather has been horrible. We saw a moose and a bear and that's it. Going back for another week or so, since I drove my wife home today so I can try harder now..
