The MH aren't bad, I've chomped on them for a long time.  I ordered a handful of the HawkVittles meals this year and tried two of them out on my WA scout trip a few weekends ago.  Not too darn bad, and, they actually have true, one serving meal sizes which I like.  Here's the page if you want to check them out.

Fresh heart tacos are tough to beat.

Mary Jane makes some killer stuff if you weed through the vegan stuff.

Most of the time I am beat, it is dark and whatever I have goes down the pie hole and then I'm in bed.

Well I will just throw out some ramblings from 25 years of packing. Freeze dried are a good supplement but kind of depends on whether you have fires to cook over, meals that require long cooking times or only need 1-2 cups of hot water. Last week I boiled (.04oz pepsi can alcohol stove) 3cps of water added pkt of gravy mix $1, pkt of orieda mashed potato's $1 and a bag of "frozen meat balls" (dollar store). Next was 6 frozen vac sealed Bear brats simmered over a fire in a pkt of pork gravy. Both of these meals were on day three of 30-50deg. temps each fed 2 guys. Home made beef sticks and jerky, trail mix, starbucks instant coffee, tea bags, cheese sticks, hard salami, summer sausage, top raman, lipton soups. Last year I made a batch of 20 bacon wrapped jalepeno's in tupperware. My point is use your imagination also if your pack is too heavy stay with light food ie., Fdried and cured meats ect., After a day of packing and not seeing any game a little comfort food goes a long way.
