Landowner Permission on Leased Land?
« on: August 30, 2015, 06:32:57 PM »
So it's common for a landowner to lease their property for someone else to farm.  I'm under the impression permission to hunt must be received from the landowner though correct?  Does the current lessee not have any say in the matter?  In this example the current lessee is not leasing the property for hunting, they simply grow crops on the land.

Thanks!

All depends on the lease.  Usually an agricultural lease does not include giving access to others.  Best to talk to the owner also.

Depends on how it was written.  I have seen it go both ways.  I have seen the leese also get the hunting rights as part of the deal.

Most Farmers do not want to make a property owner unhappy and will tell you if you need to get permission from the owner.
In the vast majority of this type of arrangement, the owner and leasee will discuss the situation and agree to a course of action.
That being said, the owner for sure has the last word.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.
