Methods for Hunting Around Lakes?
« on: August 31, 2015, 08:20:06 PM »
Howdy!
New to the forum and first time hunter! I'm super excited to finally be able to get out this year, and going off of a tip from a local hunter I think I have an area to scout. I wanted some input though on methods of hunting around a lake. Should I stick to streams, rivers, creeks, etc. rather than the main lake? Any general advice on areas to pay closer attention to based on the maps? Any input on the area in general, I hear it gets crowded, but if you hunt it early into modern firearm season it's still relatively undisturbed. Thanks in advance for any input!

I say hunt the bank from a boat early in the morning and late in the evening. Don't worry about the name of the lake I can usually see the tiniest font on my phone and can't read the name haha

Tip... First get permission, then check it out in person. I'm pretty sure that particular lake is totally private, no boat access, and very swampy... Pm me if you have questions. I have grown up in the area.

All land surrounding that lake is owned by:
Devils Lake Corp
13710 NE 71st PL
Redmond, WA

However, hookandbullet.com lists Devils Lake as having access to the public.

Good luck.

You might have peaked a bunch of interest since you put the info up on a forum.  As said it is private.
You will see a new no trespassing sign at the bottom of the hill that was installed last week.

Wow I really wasn't expecting such a response! I thought blotting the name but I wasn't too concerned because like I said originally it's already a pretty busy spot; might do it when I get a chance now though! Thanks for the info sheepdog, I'll look into the ownership more. That being said, any tips for how/where to scout around that area?
