First Blacktail Shed
« on: January 14, 2009, 07:37:00 PM »
I was out in the front doing yard work this evening when the neighborhood boys came riding up screaming at the top of their lungs!!! Before I could even understand what they were saying I see My nextdoor neighbor's son with this little gem in his hand ... His first Blacktail shed  he found it while riding his bike on the trails near our house. It's pretty cool to see some 10 year old boys getting excited about a shedhorn!

good for them...they'll be riding those trails for the rest of the winter now.
that's the kind of stuff that keeps kids out of trouble.

Awesome. Good to see that some kids actually get and do something other than play video games. Tell 'em great work.

Thanks but you just told him yourself Hacksaw! I asked his parents permission before posting his pic on the site and forwarded the topic to them so they could check in and see his pic and see what you guy's thought of his find! I think it's pretty cool too ... allthough I was out the other day looking myself and now it looks like I'll have shed hunting competition in my area!  :chuckle:

Cool - That is a STUD buck!!  Check out the mass!  Get a camera up in that area and see if you can get a pic of him.

Allready had a camera up and I was thinking I had seen him allready but my puter crashed last month and all my pics are on an external that I have to back hook up and see if I can find him on it! I did pull my camera but after this I think I may put it back out and see if I can get a pic of a one horned buck!!!  :)

I got a few bucks on one of my trailcams this week with both antlers still in tact.  I know a guy who killed his buck on 12/31 and both antlers came off after the shot.

I'm going back in to walk the trails in a week or so.  There was a fat porcupine in the area sharing apples with the deer in some of my pics.  I hope I beat him to the sheds  :bash:

Pretty cool. I made my first shed trip today to next year's hunting area, saw some really nice rubs that had me going, as recent as within two weeks ago approx, heartwood hadn't even turned yet. Might try again in two weeks.
