DIY ecaller sounds

How many of you make your own ecaller sounds?

I've been making my own sounds for a few years now using audacity.
I'm looking to improve my sounds a bit and figured this is a good place to put tips and info for others to learn as well.

What are you using to record your sounds and how are you putting them together?

I've thought about it but never actually tried. I have a little music studio set up in my place and do some recording. I use Reaper to do my audio editing. I have used other peoples mp3s to edit/combine to make different call sequences before. If I would try, I have condenser mics and a 24 track digital recorder/audio interface. I might get more serious and actually try now, whenever I can find the time.

For some Info. You might try Varmint Al's. this guy was doing E- callers before they were called E-callers.

Varmint Al is a great site. It's what got me thinking about recording my own sounds. The mp3s on there are some of the ones I've used to make my own calling sequence. I think he also has a tutorial on using Audacity to make your own sequences.

I do like varmint Als   I have all his sounds along with many more but am interested in recording my own sounds. I've got many from YouTube and similar videos but have ran in to many opertunitys to record some very good sounds but I think I need a better mic than the one in my laptop!

I friend of mine has a fantastic yote call that he recorded. 

He took the recording device into a chicken coop and started putting one at a time in duress.  That call has called in more yotes in a place where there are chickens than any other call recording he has.   

Just something to consider...

I never thought of that. I might have to ask my neighbors if I can set up my recording devices around their chicken coop.

one of my plans as well! Also Muscovy ducks and kid goats.  Cat in heat ect ect. Thinking I just need a good mic to get better quality than I have been.

He darn near killed one of the chickens...  You have to get them under a lot of stress so they go absolutely nuts.  Like a walking up to a wounded deer.  They scream like their life depends on it.  You need the same with your recordings.

rodent of some sort   I play it as loud as I play any distress sound  has called in quite a few coyote sofar
