« on: September 16, 2015, 08:31:26 PM »
Just curious if anyone on the site is doing any good in the Toutle for quality bull? Any of the cow tag hunters seeing anything? I have the mz tag and am a little curious about the elk numbers you guys are seeing. Hope you are all doing well and having good hunts!!

Hot garbage man.
Wife drew for archery. She seemingly forgot to draw on a solid 6x7 (for the area) at 7 yards, then opted out on a smaller, but equally solid 7x7 at 35 (pushing her bows limits for elk). We bugled in 8 bulls in three days, but they are WAY more picky than years past. They also seemed to be in the thickest vegetation making even 12 yard shots a no go for elk.
I have called for folks in the toutle before, and was sadly disappointed compare to my prior experience.

Having lived in the area my entire life, Toutle should not be a quality bull tag anymore.  It is sad to see what has happened to our elk quality and population.  Yes, there are some decent bulls, but it's not at all like it used to be.  SAD!

I still have a mf cow youth tag over thanksgiving with my daughter.  I have hunted there before a few years back but I'm afraid I won't be able to show her some animals this year.  I will still go, but I'm not expecting much.  Feel like they need to change some things on this unit.
