Thanks everyone. I had been camped north of Ellensburg from Friday through Wednesday. Missed a cow on Wednesday morning because my arrow came of the rest. I went to Riverside archery, got a new rest, worked Thursday Friday and Saturday and headed back over on Saturday. This time my wife and 2 of 4 kids wanted to come (the other two were at their mom's, wish they could have been there). So we got a hotel for the night. I shot her on Sunday morning at about 20yds right as I shot the whole heard spooked straight towards me (turns out there was 3 other people putting a stalk on them from the other side of the clearing). With her pointing almost towards me when the arrow hit I wasn't real confident in the shot. I spoke with the three people. Told them the case and they agreed not to push her. I decided to wait a couple of hours before blood trailing. So I went and picked up my family in downtown Ellensburg. It took about an hour to blood trail her and she was only a couple hundred yards from the road. We mostly boned her out, except left bone in the hind legs. While my wife and I were cutting her up, the kids had pliers and a rock, pulling teethe for souvenirs. I grabbed to game bags with both hind quarters, my wife packed my backpack full of meet, we had tied a knot in the hood of my jacket and stuffed that full of meat, our oldest carried that and the youngest carried the head. Quite the family experience.
