Wyoming preference point help!
« on: October 04, 2015, 11:16:36 AM »
Been thinking about applying for different states the last few years and decided to start. Seems like Wyoming has good success rates so I'm trying to decide whether it's worth buying the preference points and where people would recommend applying for if you've hunted there before. Wanting to apply for deer and elk. Thanks for the help!

They extended the deadline to allow you to purchase points for this year so you can still get a point this year and go into the draw next year. That's what I've been doing extremely cheap to build points in Wyoming since they allow you to just purchase a point

50 bucks doesn't seem all that cheap man! Lol... But I guess it is since you don't have to buy license and everything. Not sure about when you actually go to apply for a tag if you have to or not. Have you ever been drawn?

That's a tough question to answer. You can draw some units with just a couple points, while the best units can take ten or more years. If you're looking to draw those units, you will be putting money in with no return for a decade. Are you willing to do that? Will you be able to hunt in ten+ years?

If you're young enough and patient enough, you can draw some awesome permits.

I would say it is worth it. Start putting in and do some other forms of hunting like antelope to get familiar with the state while waiting.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

Hey kid, I thought 500 bucks was "nothing" to you.  50 bucks is a deal.

Ya for sure that's what I was thinking maybe 10 years from now I will be happy about putting in. I read something about not putting in for two consecutive years you lose your points?

I was about to help you a little but your post history plus this post is keeping me from doing it. Grow up, be a man and do your own research like we all do. Keep making stupid posts and you won't gain any respect or help.  :twocents:

I was also referencing your trespassing posts but good luck with your pursuits

Lol I said hey, maybe since your having so many trespassers you should post your land better... A simple honest idea/suggestion for possibly a gate and signs. Then holy crap everyone freaks out. I did post once however about national forest land which was wrong and out of frustration Vande yes you are right and I was wrong.

You're a pot stirrer. Lighten up a bit and try to build a relationship and you'll get plenty more help.  :twocents:
