Blue Mountains Spike
« on: October 13, 2015, 11:12:38 AM »
Got my first muzzy spike in the blues.  About a 60 yard shot down in the thick windfalls.  Hunting was hot and dry but overall successful. It was weird seeing so many hunters down there now that its all open to spikes. Bulls were calling off and on.  Saw some big bulls down in the deep canyons and can't wait to finally draw a bull tag down there next year  :chuckle: . Good luck to all on the upcoming modern season.

No problem.

Everyone I talked to in the 8 days down there hadn't gotten anything elk wise.  No one had even seen a spike by the sounds of it and from all the miles logged between four of us, this was the only spike we saw.  Talked to 4 guys with cow tags and hadn't even seen elk yet but that was early in the week.  All the elk sign I found was down in the deep draws.

Nice spike. I hope to find mine in the Oregon Blues on the 28th. We will be there for nine days so we can scout for a few days before the season. We have seven tags in camp.
I hunt therefore I am.
