Access on Whidby
« on: October 08, 2015, 12:56:53 PM »
I have hunted the same spot on Whidby Island for the last 5 years and now I can't anymore. The neighbors of the people who gave me access have called the police and got their panties in a bunch because they don't like hunting. They piss and moan about the deer eating their flowers and veggies, but god forbid someone hurts them. Anyway, If anyone knows a place that would allow a nice, safe, courteous person like myself to hunt their property, I would appreciate it. I have a second deer tag out there to fill and I would hate to waste it. PM me if you'd like to be discrete. I will process and share the meat with the land owner if they would like. Thanks
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

Weird thing is those same neighbors more than likely probably have no issues with all the cars hitting the deer and wasting their carcasses away on the roadside.  It just doesn't seem to phase most people here who look to all these deer as pretty yard pets.

Are you talking about on Whidby Island or over around Ellensburg? If you have property in Ellensburg then I need to talk to you about filling my cow elk tag in the Umtaneum. If your boat doesn't need to be covered, I have 2 acres you could park it on.

By the way H20, my 2 dink bucks from Whidby are going to be on display at the new Dick's Sporting Goods in Smokey Point. The Taxidermist who did them called the other day and said that he is supplying most, or all, I can't remember, of the mounts in the store. He asked if I wanted to donate mine for a while and I said yeah, why not.

I don't get it. If you are not on the neighbors property, what can they do about it?

Most everyone wants to be on good terms with their neighbors. They have to live withe them 24/7/365.

We lost a property we had access on three years ago because one of the tenants objected.  We thanked the property owner and brought them a small package of deer the last couple of years when we were taking the other property owners a package.  This year when we showed up the property owner ask us to come back and hunt.  He no longer cares what the tenants think, the deer are causing an unacceptable amount of damage.  Same thing with neighbors, they have cost us access in the past, but we just thank the property owner for the time that we were allowed to enjoy access and we maintain contact and low and behold in quite a few instances we are right back on that property.

There is a lot of that attitude here on the island.  I want to get away from it all, but wait I want city rules too :bash: :bash:
